Following a wonderful weekend, in which I made up for all of lost sleep on Sunday, I approached this week with some renewed vigor. Monday was quite a pleasant day, it was wonderful having everyone ask how Valencia was and being able to tell them how great it was! I also had my mid term evaluation for art. I was a little nervous going into this, seeing as how I really just signed up for this class for fun and the professors take it soooooooo seriously. they try and be so philosophical and in depth when they speak and honestly . like no my heart did not 'feeeel' that line i just painted, it was a total accident. but whatever, i just take it all in. my professor showed up an hour and a half late. solid. but you know, it was a nice day, i was in a nice mood and really had nothing better to do, so i took the time to get some more sketches in. anyways, my prof loved my work and said that i had improved a lot and blah blah blah . whata i really loved is the fact that he is from charlotte, north carolina .. went to USC .. lived in the same dorm i did freshman year, after he moved to greenville and now he lives in aix. oh and he also was a camper at camp thunderbird, where i have worked the past 2 summers. unbelievable. i had such a good time talking to him about the south and about USC. . granted, he admitted to not remembering much of it, but then again he was a hippie during the 70s so its not that unexpected. for dinner we had ravioli romanos which are the cutest and sweetest little raviolis in the world. after dinner i watched john wayne films with robert. i think he just absolutely loves when we watch and do things with him. alex wasnt home so it was just me and him, and poncho (stupid stupid dog).
tuesday was quite pleasant as well, my friends Sarah, Clare and I decided to wander around a little bit and we found a most delightful little cafe where i ended up spending the entire afternoon using the wifi and catching up on some work without the noise of the library at school that is ALWAYS crowded with students and the internet NEVER works. i was not really feeling up for going out tuesday night .. so i stayed in and robert and i watched "optime decision" which is an american film about terrorists aboard a US flight with plans to blow up washington. it was actually really not too dificult to comprehend though it was dubbed in french.
so my roommate alex has been off galavanting with her boyfriend who is visiting from chicago this week. they met in paris and then went skiing in the alps and after a brief visit in aix are off to the loire valley and then versailles. its absolutely charming. i was so excited to come home tonight though because they are in town for the night and coming home for dinner! when i got home i was pleasantly surprised to meet some of my host mom, mireille's cousins! François et Elaine from Normandy. they spend half of the year in normandy and the other half in st. tropez. what a life. they were so so so friendly and François and i became instand buddies. they commented on how cute i was and how well i spoke french! they also invited alex and i up to their house in normandy aaaannnytime. definitely think ill take them up on that offer actually. they even participated in our nightly jokes about me being "le sud" and "la blonde" .. it really is just so fun and we sat at the table and laughed and laughed and laughed. mireille made a wonderful spaghetti and roast beef (yeah, didnt know they went together) and then we had 3 yes 3 cakes. one which is the aix specialty that mireille bought for alex's boyfriend, kyle (whom my host dad calls fly because kyle is too difficult for him to remember and pronounce) and then we had one that elaine brought from st. tropez which is the specialty cake as well and then i have no idea who brought this delicious coffee cake-esque dessert from morocco but it was so yummy. good thing i went for a beautiful run today and soaked up the afternoon sunshine in this beautiful park . i was able to put the final touches on our spring break plans and to update my photo project !!
