musings and such

ive been accumulating these thoughts and just daily ponderances

  • i literally think they systematically get rid of all the ugly babies in france. because, seriously, there has not been one child that i have come across here that i have not contemplated stealing. they are more chic than Baby Gap could ever dream of.
  • my favorite part of every day is walking home from class and wondering what my host mom has made for dinner
  • my favorite words/phrases:
    • "A table, les filles" (To the table girls, AKA, DINNERS READY) ..
    • "bonne idee" pronounced .. bunny day. it means good idea and is so much fun to say.
    • rosé. well i just like this word cause its EVERYWHERE, well the wine is everywhere and it makes me immediately start singing Bottoms Up by Trey Songs
    • crepes a go-go well i just like this because its a 24 place that literally has every type of crepe you could ever dream of
    • thats all i can think of off the top of my head. more to come
  • no one picks up their dog's business from the sidewalks. gross
  • the ambulance alarm is more like a tune that you would find on a cellphone than the WAILING noise of ambulances back home.
  • i cant find qtips ANYWHERE.
  • or peanut butter.
  • the french LOVE crackers, all types
  • Paul rocks my world. I literally cannot go one day without seeing him and getting so excited and happy and smiley. He makes my day so much brighter. oh and he is a bakery.
  • france is struggling as a nation with productivity going forward after the global recession .. and i guarantee you it has something to do with the fact they work 35 hours a week at MAX. or take 2 hour lunches.  kids only go to school 4.5 days a week here. they get wednesday afternoons off
  • the french shower. and practice good hygiene.
  • i saw some boys who literally could not have been more than 12 smoking cigarettes in the street the other day. i definitely appreciate what the US has done to reduce/eliminate smoking
  • bizzou. is the name for a kiss in french. and typically its the one on each cheek type. here are the rules ive learned:
    • it doesnt matter what side you start with first
    • girls bizzou boys and girls.
    • boys can bizzou each other. as an American it does look odd at first. but it is custom if you know another male well, you bizzou upon greeting.
  •  i miss burritos.
  • literally everything is a challenge here.. well in the sense that i have to do so much thinking before i act or speak especially.. and i love it. its like every day is some new adventure and i never get tired of learning new things or figuring out new things
